Aquatics Classes


Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

  • Description: The Yokota American Red Cross is proud to offer Lifeguard classes through Natatorium that are authorized to provide Red Cross courses. (28 hours)
  • Certification: Nationally recognized Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, valid for three years

Babysitter Training

  • Description: A comprehensive course that covers the responsibilities of babysitting to include: interviewing, safe play, age appropriate play, being a good role model, responding to emergencies and skills in childcare. (6.5 hours)
  • Prerequisite: Participants must be at least 11 years old by the day of the class.
  • Certification: A certificate is given upon successful completion of all requirements. Certificate does not expire.

Adult, Child, Infant CPR/First Aid/AED


Adult CPR/AED

  • Description: Participants learn to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies. Skills include checking a conscious and unconscious victim, clearing an obstructed airway, rescue breathing and CPR on individuals 12 years of age and older. (4 hours)
  • Certification: Valid for one year
  • Price: $30 (Book and Skill Card included)
  • Schedule: Next class held on November 23, 2010 from 1000-1430hrs call the Red Cross office for sign-up


Infant & Child CPR

  • Description: Participants learn to recognize and respond to emergency situations with children and infants. Skills include performing rescue breathing, clearing an obstructed airway on a conscious and unconscious victim, and CPR. This course is recommended for childcare workers and individuals who care for children 11 years and younger. (4 years)
  • Certification: Valid for one year
  • Price: $30 (Book and Skill Card included)
  • Schedule: Next class is scheduled for November 24,  2010 from 1700-2100hrs call the Red Cross office for sign-up


Basic First Aid

  • Description Participants learn to recognize and care for injuries and sudden illnesses. Skills included are bandaging wounds, splinting limbs, caring for buns, diabetic emergencies, seizures and heat and cold related injuries. (4 hours)
  • Certification Valid for three year
  • Price: $25 (Book and Skill Card included)

Instructor Courses


Fundamentals of Instructor Training Course (FIT)

  • Description This course (6 hours) is a prerequisite for ALL Red Cross Instructor Courses in Health & Safety Services, Disaster Services and AFEES. The training focuses on methods of teaching and instructor responsibilities in planning to teach, conduct and evaluate courses.
  • Prerequisite Must be at least 16 years old by the day of the class.
  • Certification Valid for one year

First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course (2 parts):

  • Part 1 – Preliminary Challenge Description: This challenge is for individuals enrolling in the Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course. It includes a written test of the individual’s knowledge and hands-on skills in performing Adult/AED, Child, Infant CPR and Basic First Aid. Participation is essential in preparing for the instructor course.
  • Prerequisite: FIT
  • Certification: CPR/AED valid for one year; First Aid valid for tree years.
  • Price: Included as part of the First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course (see below).
  • Part 2 – Material Overhaul & Teach Backs Description: A comprehensive course (18 hours) that certifies instructors to teach Red Cross Community and Workplace CPR and First Aid Courses. This includes an overview of all materials as well as practice teaching sessions. Upon successful completion of the course, individuals are certified to provide training in Red Cross Adult, Child, Infant CPR, AED, First Aid and six injury prevention modules.
  • Prerequisite: Completion of the Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT); Preliminary Challenge giving you a certification in Adult, Child, Infant CPR and First Aid. Candidates must be able to pass a skills challenge on all CPR/AED and First Aid skills. Must be at least 16 years old by the date of the class.
  • Certification: Valid for two years and renewable every 2 years thereafter
